Creating the Install section

The Install section is the main section of the install script. The keys under the Install section specify what to install and which other sections to look for and process. An install script processes a key when its value is equal to 1. Each key points to a software component.

Key

Description

Configurations

This is an internal flag that is used when driver configurations will be applied to one or more of the installed printer objects.

Notes:

Dashboard

This provides a single interface for finding and using applications and services with your printer using Printer Home.

Note: For Printer Home to function properly, make sure to add the necessary information required in the script. For more information, see Creating the Dashboard and DeviceId sections.

DriverConfig

This lets you preconfigure a print driver before deployment and installation.

Use the Printer Driver Configuration Utility to configure print drivers such as Printer Preferences, Printer Properties, and Printing Defaults for multiple workstations or print servers for printer names that share the same configuration.

Drivers

This lets you specify that printer drivers will be installed.

Note: For more information, see the Creating the Drivers, PrinterY, and FaxY sections.

Error_App

This lets you install the Status Messenger, which prompts you when printing problems occur and helps you resolve them.

HiResScan

This lets you scan images at high resolution.

Language

This lets you specify what language is used during software installation.

Notes:

Note: To use the Misc key, set it to 1.

Notes:

  • If you need to create new ports for the target computer, then set Ports to 1. You may also need to include this key for network installations.
  • For more information, see Creating the Ports and PortY sections.
ProductUpdater

This lets you send your printer data to the manufacturer so that you can receive automatic notifications for software and printer updates.

PSU

This lets you configure your fax and e-mail settings using the Printer Setup Utility.

Pubs_Common

This lets you install the EU Waste Electronic Information.

Pubs_Model_Specific

This lets you install a local copy of the User’s Guide for the printer model.

Scanners

This provides additional information required by the USB TWAIN driver.

Note: If USB_Twain installation is required, then set Scanners to 1.

Screen_Fonts

This lets you use the fonts supported by the printer when creating documents on the computer.

Status_Center

This lets you view the printer supply status and order supplies online using the Status Monitor Center.

Support_Software

This is required to scan images directly to the computer, or to use Smart Solutions on the printer. It may also include a software application to help diagnose and resolve wireless connection problems.

TOOL_LPSU

This lets you change the settings of your printer using the Local Printer Setup Utility.

Note: This is applicable only if the printer is connected locally (USB) to the computer.

This lets you install the USB Scan drivers.

Notes:

  • The operating system completes the driver installation through Windows Plug and Play (PnP) when the printer is connected using the USB cable.
  • To properly install or uninstall the USB_Twain driver, the Scanners key is required. For more information, see Creating the Scanners section.
